The 3rd YB workshop of 2010

Image30 members of 9 YB committees came together to participate in two-day workshop in Yerevan onFebruary 19-20. The workshop was dedicated to conflict transformation, online English learning resources and increased community participation. The workshop was an opportunity to bring 2-3 members from each Youth Bank together to learn together, to learn about each others’ programs and activities, revise future action plans. Narek Beglaryan from Vayots Dzor Youth Bank was recognized as the most active YB-er for his active work in the YB and the volunteer activities he organized in their


USAID/Armenia Activity Manager for the EPF Civic Participation programs, Yeva Hyusyan was a guest speaker at the opening session and presented USAID’s activity in Armenia to the thirty young participants. Drawing similarities between USAID and Youth Banks, she pointed that although they operate on different levels and scale, both identify priority areas for involvement, evaluate opportunities and risks, and implement programs that will bring a difference to communities and the country at large. “Leadership skills are essential for Armenia, and I hope your efforts and energy committed to this initiative will sustain and you will apply your new skills and knowledge in your future careers and endeavors,” Hyusyan said. After the workshop, the 9 YBs committed to develop a concise action plan for community projects in a unified format which will be implemented by July, 2010 in addition to their grant-making and monitoring activities.
