Tomorrow Yerevan Press Club (YPC) will present the main results of the qualitative study on “Main Trends of Armenian and Turkish Mass Media’s Coverage of the Armenian-Turkish Relations” to the civil society and mass media outlets.
Researchers have studied the coverage of the Armenian-Turkish relations by 10 Armenian and Turkish media outlets from August 2008 to September 2010.
YPC and the Faculty of Communication at the University of Economics in Izmir (Turkey) conducted the study within the framework of the “Support to the Improvement of Armenia-Turkey Relations” in 2011. The program is implemented with support from USAID (consortium), which includes Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Yerevan Press Club, the International Center for Human Development and the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia.
The study is on how much attention the mass media of each country pays to the Armenian-Turkish relations, how political processes have had an impact on the coverage, the sources of information about the neighboring country and which spheres of life were focused on.
The quantitative analysis section of the study is currently being summed up and will be presented in June.
