A new online tool expected to monitor the elections in Armenia will be presented in Yerevan’s Congress hotel on Friday evening.
The project called iDitord (iObserver) is implemented jointly by Transparency International Anti-corruption Center and Media Diversity institute NGOs, is aimed at promoting free, fair and transparent elections in Armenia through enhancing crowdsourcing elections observation and mapping observed instances of electoral violations on website (iDitord.am).
The project was developed based on Ushahidi online tool which was first used for monitoring the 2007 presidential election in Kenya. It is funded by the Open Society Foundations-Armenia NGO and the US Agency for International Development (Internews US, Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Counterpart International-Armenia).
The presentation event expected to last from 5:00pm until 6:00 pm will be attended by representatives of government bodies responsible for conducting and monitoring elections, as well as international organizations, diplomatic missions, NGOs and media representatives. Opening addressess will be delivered by US Ambassador to Armenia Joh Haffern, Chief Executive of the Open Society Foundations-Armenia Larisa Minasyan and the chief of Alternative Resources in Media project, Manana Aslamazyan.
